Facts about Fingerprints

When police go to a crime scene, they look for evidence. Clues that will help them solve the crime.

That evidence might be footprints, hair or something the thief has dropped or it might be fingerprints.
A fingerprint is an impression left by a human finger.

Even with all the new technology we have to analyze a crime scene, one of the most important pieces
of evidence is still a person’s fingerprints!

Fingerprints are easily deposited on suitable surfaces (such as glass or metal or polished stone)
by the natural secretions of sweat.

Human fingerprints are detailed, nearly unique, difficult to alter, and durable over the life of an individual.

Thieves  often leave fingerprints behind, it could be on the window, the wall or something they touched.

We leave behind fingerprints almost every time we touch something, and since every person has a unique
set of prints, they are a great tool for identification.
